Bring your practice into the age of minimally invasive surgery! This comprehensive course has been specifically designed for individuals interested in incorporating minimally invasive surgery into their private practices. Highly experienced instructors have been selected to present lectures on the equipment required to perform MIS procedures, principles of access to the abdominal cavity, modalities for hemostasis as well as the technical aspects of a variety of minimally invasive procedures. Techniques discussed in the lecture component and/or subsequently practiced in the two wet labs will include laparoscopic or laparoscopic-assisted ovariohysterectomy/ovariectomy, gastropexy, cystotomy, splenectomy, cryptorchidectomy, abdominal organ biopsy as well as laparoscopic-assisted intestinal resection. Presentations covering the important topics of sterilization, lay staff training, and the business side of incorporating MIS into your practice will also be featured.


Hands-on training led by expert instructors equals enhanced proficiency and improved surgical skills. Build your confidence in performing procedures with accuracy and efficiency:

  • Understand the advantages and disadvantages of minimally invasive surgery in small animals
  • Become familiar with the instrumentation used for laparoscopic surgery in cats and dogs

  • Understand case selection and surgical technique for commonly performed laparoscopic procedures.
  • Be able to perform a laparoscopic ovariectomy/ovariohysterectomy on a female dog

  • Airport drop off: All drop-offs are every two hours, starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p. Please sign up at the front desk at least 1 hour prior to departing.
  • Shuttle service to Las Vegas Strip: Pickups and drop-offs are outside the Mandalay Bay Tour and Trolley stop.

Public transportation in Las Vegas is limited. If you are staying somewhere other than our preferred partner, Hampton Inn & Suites Las Vegas Airport, you will need to arrange for your transportation to and from the Oquendo Center. If you are renting a car, Mandalay Bay, Luxor and several other hotels on the strip may charge for parking. Other transportation options for getting around are taxi service, Uber and Lyft.


  1. WVC scrubs are available upon your arrival if needed.

  2. Closed-toe shoes are required during labs.

  3. A light sweater for indoor areas.
