This two-day course will provide intensive lecture, live and cadaver wet lab experience of a wide array of medicine, surgery, commonly performed techniques and procedures in rabbits. 

The course will cover aspects of how to set up your practice, rabbit anatomy, husbandry, handling, clinical techniques, common diseases, diagnostic imaging, therapeutics, anesthesia, medicine and surgery, among other important topics. 

Morning lectures will be followed by hands-on wet lab with tips and tricks thrown in from the highly experienced course instructors. In the afternoons individual assistance from instructors will be available throughout the labs to help participants optimize their skills.

Hands-on training led by expert instructors equals enhanced proficiency and improved rabbit-handling skills. Build your confidence in performing procedures with accuracy and efficiency:

  • Develop an understanding of the principles of rabbit medicine, including how to incorporate them into your practice
  • Know how to properly restrain, examine, and hospitalize the rabbit patient
  • Know how to obtain and interpret diagnostic samples and imaging
  • Develop a detailed understanding and confidence in rabbit anesthesia and analgesia, including endotracheal intubation
  • Know how to recognize and treat common diseases, including GI syndrome, dental disease, and E. cuniculi
  • Develop the ability and confidence to perform teeth trimming and incisor extraction, including stomatoscopy
  • Know how to recognize and manage emergencies in rabbits, including liver lobe torsion
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the principles of surgery in rabbits
  • Develop the ability to perform orchiectomy and ovariohysterectomy in rabbits and understand important surgical principles to optimize outcomes and avoid complications

Courtyard Lodging Includes: 

  • Airport Pick up: Available on request, 7 days a week starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p
  • Guests will need to call the hotel upon arrival (702.434.4700) after they pick up their luggage. At that time, we will inform them of the area they will be picked up and we will send the shuttle driver.
  • Airport drop-off: All drop-offs are every two hours, starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p. Please sign up at the front desk at least 1 hour prior to departing.
  • Shuttle service to Las Vegas Strip: Pickups and drop-offs are outside the Mandalay Bay Tour and Trolley stop.

  • Please sign up at the front desk at least 1 hour prior.
  • Ground transportation to/from hotel and Viticus Center.

  • Return to the hotel at the end of the instructional day.


Public transportation in Las Vegas is limited. If you are staying somewhere other than our preferred partner, Courtyard Las Vegas Henderson/Green Valley, you will need to arrange for your transportation to and from the Viticus Center. If you are renting a car, Mandalay Bay, Luxor and several other hotels on the strip may charge for parking. Other transportation options for getting around are taxi service, Uber and Lyft.


  1. Scrubs are available upon your arrival if needed.

  2. Closed-toe shoes are required during labs.

  3. A light sweater for indoor areas.

  4. Plenty of sunscreen.

  5. Electronic charging device to power up.

  6. Valid ID - We highly recommend you carry your ID at all times in Las Vegas.
