ABOUT THIS COURSE
Veterinary dentistry and anesthesia unleashed! This two-and-a-half-day lecture and hands-on course aims to unlock the mysteries and myths when performing dental procedures and related anesthesia/analgesia on your veterinary patients.
Your three instructors, Benita Altier LVT, VTS (Dentistry), Denise Rollings RVT, VTS (Dentistry), and Stephanie Johnson CVT, VTS (Dentistry)(Anesthesia/Analgesia), are excited to provide fun and interactive learning on subjects such as power equipment for dentistry, hand instrumentation, periodontal therapy, pain management and anesthesia, dental radiology and so much more! Learning Objectives
1. Describe the C.O.R.E. Dental procedure and all of the steps.
2. Recognize oral pathologies and use a periodontal probe and explorer to chart the oral cavity using American Veterinary Dental College abbreviations.
3. Demonstrate the proper care and maintenance of handpieces on a dental delivery unit, high and low speed, ultrasonic scaler, three-way syringe, and compressor.
4. Examine and assess multiple instruments used for periodontal therapy and oral surgery.
5. Use Arkansas or ceramic stones to sharpen these hand instruments properly.
6. Demonstrate using an ultrasonic scaler and prophy angle on a low-speed handpiece to professionally clean and polish tooth surfaces.
7. Complete thorough closed root-planing on teeth with periodontal pockets using hand instruments.
8. Recognize normal dental anatomy and common pathologies in rabbits and rodents.
9. Locate anatomical foramen on a dog and cat skull commonly used to provide regional dental anesthesia.
10. Calculate, prepare, and apply dental nerve blocks in the dog and cat.
11. Understand the basic techniques for endodontic dental procedures and recognize and handle instruments and products used in these procedures.
12. Explain additional considerations regarding veterinary patients and anesthesia when co-morbidities exist.
13. Describe anesthetic monitoring plans and strategies to ensure successful patient outcomes before, during, and after dental procedures.
14. Demonstrate troubleshooting skills when obtaining dental radiographs and practice full-mouth dental radiographs ensuring each image is of diagnostic quality on the dog and coming soon.

Transportation from the Residence Inn to the Harry Reid Airport
You will need to sign up at the front desk. These shuttles run once an hour. They will ask you to sign up no less than 2 hours before expected departure.
TRANSPORTATION
Viticus Group transportation includes shuttle pick-up at the Residence Inn 45 minutes prior to the start of your course start time and a short ride to the Viticus Center. At the close of each day, our shuttle will take you back to the Hotel.
Last Day Transportation: Shuttle provided both to the airport, and back to the Hotel. (Luggage storage available on campus)
If you are a Las Vegas local, or are driving yourself to the course, please arrive to the Oquendo Campus 30 minutes before the start time.

Public transportation in Las Vegas is limited.
If you are staying somewhere other than our preferred partner, you will need to arrange for your transportation to and from the Viticus Center. If you are renting a car, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and several other hotels on the strip may charge for parking. Other transportation options for getting around are taxi service, Uber and Lyft.
