Join us for 3 full days of lecture and laboratories focused on soft tissue procedures such as: amputation, feline/canine urethrostomy, gastropexy, splenectomy, and enucleation. Instructors have extensive experience in private practice and academia and utilize interactive clinical presentations to introduce laboratory procedures and provide applied context for perioperative management. Our team includes specialists in small animal surgery and critical care to address different perspectives of relevant pathology, patient stabilization methods, and surgical technique. Participants will have ample time in laboratory to practice procedures on both feline and canine cadavers with guidance from ACVS- and ACVECC-certified instructors.

1) Understand indications for and develop competence in placing emergency tubes/catheters (thoracotomy tube, central line, tracheotomy tube, esophagostomy tube, IO catheter).


2) Triage/stabilize patients with urinary obstruction and practice procedures necessary for urinary diversion (feline perineal urethrostomy, canine urethrostomy, cystotomy tube, pigtail catheters)


3) Gain confidence in performing various gastrointestinal procedures (intestinal resection & anastomosis, gastropexy) splenectomy and cholecystectomy.


4) Develop competence with enucleation and amputation procedures (digit, tail, mid-femoral hindlimb) surgery procedures

  • Airport Pick up: Available on request, 7 days a week starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p

  • Airport drop-off: All drop-offs are every two hours, starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p. Please sign up at the front desk at least 1 hour prior to departing.

  • Please sign up at the front desk at least 1 hour prior.
  • Ground transportation to/from hotel and Viticus Center.
  • Be ready at the Courtyard hotel lobby 30 minutes in advance of course start time and board the van for the short ride to the Viticus Center. View Map.
  • Return to the hotel at the end of the instructional day.

TRANSPORTATION

Public transportation in Las Vegas is limited. If you are staying somewhere other than our preferred partner, you will need to arrange for your transportation to and from the Viticus Center. If you are renting a car, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and several other hotels on the strip may charge for parking. Other transportation options for getting around are taxi service, Uber and Lyft.

PACKING TIPS

  1. Scrubs are available upon your arrival if needed.
  2. Closed-toe shoes are required during labs.
  3. A light sweater for indoor areas.
  4. Plenty of sunscreen.
  5. Electronic charging device to power up.
  6. Valid ID - We highly recommend you carry your ID at all times in Las Vegas.
