Cranial cruciate ligament insufficiency and medial patellar luxations are common orthopedic problem in dogs and cats. Successful treatment of these conditions requires accurate diagnosis and assessment.

This course will provide up-to-date information on the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of cranial cruciate ligament insufficiency and patellar luxation. Lectures and labs will emphasize techniques that can readily be performed in practice. Participants will learn how to differentiate partial versus complete tears of the CrCL. The course will include sections on stifle extracapsular repair, treatment of meniscal tears and meniscal release and treatment of MPL using the latest technology and surgical technique.

Participants will also learn how to treat CrCL in patients having concomitant MPL. Following lecture and case review, participants will perform all these different techniques on cadavers and plastic bone models. Postoperative radiographs will be taken to assess the participant's repair technique. Postoperative management will also be discussed.

  • Study stifle extracapsular repair, treatment of meniscal tears and meniscal release and treatment of MPL.
  • Become familiarized with the latest technology and surgical techniques to utilize.
  • Perform all these different techniques on cadavers and plastic bone models.
  • Study postoperative radiographs following lab to evaluate their repair technique.
  • Learn quality postoperative management techniques.

  • Airport Pick up: Available on request, 7 days a week starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p

TRANSPORTATION

Public transportation in Las Vegas is limited. If you are staying somewhere other than our preferred partner, you will need to arrange for your transportation to and from the Viticus Center. If you are renting a car, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and several other hotels on the strip may charge for parking. Other transportation options for getting around are taxi service, Uber and Lyft.

PACKING TIPS

  1. Scrubs are available upon your arrival if needed.
  2. Closed-toe shoes are required during labs.
  3. A light sweater for indoor areas.
  4. Plenty of sunscreen.
  5. Electronic charging device to power up.
  6. Valid ID - We highly recommend you carry your ID at all times in Las Vegas.
