Proximal Abducting Ulnar Osteotomy (PAUL) is a promising advancement for the care of canine elbow dysplasia patients. While palliative, PAUL has delivered improvements of 1 – 2 lameness grades in patients as old as 10 years. The ideal patient is younger, ~1 – 3 years of age and in the early stage of disease. The surgical technique is straightforward. Complications are minimal, easily avoided with comprehensive instruction and modest practice. PAUL was invented, developed and refined by KYON.

Joint injury and subsequent instability is a common problem in pets and athletes subjected to excessive trauma. Joint instability leads to poor function and osteoarthritis. This course will discuss diagnosis and treatment of common sports related injures including hip dislocation, collateral ligament injury, Achilles tendon injury, tarsal luxation, shoulder instability, and stifle injury.

This three day comprehensive course is designed for general practitioners or specialists interested in learning basic techniques for stifle arthroscopic exploration and minimally-invasive techniques for treatment of cranial cruciate ligament disease, meniscal tears, medial patella tracking and collateral ligament tears.

This 3-day course will provide intensive lecture and cadaver wet lab experience of a wide array of commonly performed advanced-level soft tissue surgical procedures in dogs and cats.

During this course, instructors will focus on both the principles of flap creation and the clinical use of these flaps. Additionally, the performance of specific reconstructive surgical procedures such as pinnectomy, nosectomy, and mastectomy will be described in great detail and performed by participants in the laboratory.

During this course, instructors will focus on practical and important surgeries that can be performed in the head and neck region of dogs and cats. Surgical procedures that will be performed in the laboratory will include tonsillar surgery, lymphadenectomy, approach to the carotid artery for tourniquet placement, thyroidectomy/parathyroidectomy, tracheostomy and ear canal surgery.
