Part 1: This course will start out with online learning. A total of six hours of lecture will be posted online in advance of the course. There will also be an interactive message board where you can post questions for the instructors and a mandatory online test. This will be the lecture portion of the course and must be completed prior to arriving at the Oquendo Campus.

Part 2: The course continues with a two-day hands-on laboratory at the Oquendo Campus in Las Vegas, Nevada. You will go right into lab on the first morning. This 2-day laboratory is designed to focus on canine and feline dentistry in order to strengthen the attendee’s knowledge and skills in dog and cat exodontia. Complete oral examination and treatment planning will be thoroughly reviewed. Discussion of intraoral radiographic acquisition and interpretation, periodontal disease, gingivostomatitis, tooth resorption, common oral tumors, and extraction techniques will be presented with numerous visual aids to enhance learning and increase retention for the attendees. Pathophysiology and treatment planning for the aforementioned diseases will be covered. Clinical cases will be used to set the stage for step-by-step presentations for canine tooth extractions with heavy emphasis on being able to predict the difficult tooth extraction, extraction pitfalls and complications will be presented to help attendees minimize complications and address complications if they should occur in clinical practice. The laboratory will provide the opportunity to put clinical skills into practice.

TRANSPORTATION

Public transportation in Las Vegas is limited. If you are staying somewhere other than our preferred partner, Courtyard Las Vegas Henderson/Green Valley, you will need to arrange for your transportation to and from the Viticus Center. If you are renting a car, Mandalay Bay, Luxor and several other hotels on the strip may charge for parking. Other transportation options for getting around are taxi service, Uber and Lyft.

PACKING TIPS

  1. Scrubs are available upon your arrival if needed.

  2. Closed-toe shoes are required during labs.

  3. A light sweater for indoor areas.

  4. Plenty of sunscreen.

  5. Electronic charging device to power up.

  6. Valid ID - We highly recommend you carry your ID at all times in Las Vegas.
